Petey – adopted

Petey666 Petey555

Handsome Petey is around ten months old, mixed breed neutered male, about 60 lbs.

Because he didn’t have much socialization as a puppy, Petey is quite nervous in new situations. He is cautious around new dogs and people and can be a bit reactive to new dogs in new places. He takes a long time to settle down, but once he does he loves to play and run, though he is still learning proper play etiquette and how to not guard his toys and food. Petey is a very high energy dog. He currently gets at minimum 1 to 2 hours of exercise every day, whether it’s hiking, trail running or mountain biking. Once he has had a good run, he is calmer around the house and extremely lovable and cuddly. Petey’s leash manners are a work in progress as well, and he is a very strong puller. He needs a very active yet calm home, and someone who is willing to put in a lot of time with training and socialization, but in the right environment he will grow to be a wonderful, loving partner on many adventures (he has recently been on his first camping and mountain biking trip and he was great!). No kids for Petey please as he is too rambunctious. With time and proper intros he will be good with calm, confident dogs and likely with cats.

Broken Promises Rescue is a volunteer run, not-for-profit, animal rescue organization located in the lower Vancouver Island. We are a group of long time rescuers that have come together to focus on improving the lives of unwanted, neglected and orphaned animals on Vancouver Island (as well as remote communities and other areas of B.C. if our resources allow us to.) Currently we are seeing many pets overlooked in the shelter system because they have less than desirable qualities. They may have medical or behavioral issues or they may simply be the wrong color, age or breed. At Broken Promise Rescue we believe all animals deserve to experience a life without pain, loneliness or hunger and want them to know what it feels like to be loved and cherished, despite appearance, age or medical condition. We are also dedicated to public education and raising awareness to help end the ongoing abuse, neglect and suffering. Educating children and adults about the responsibilities of animal ownership will go a long way in influencing public opinion on proper animal care, and help mold a more compassionate future. No animal should suffer at the hands of ignorance.
