Suki  came from Whitehorse and hoping for a great life on the island..

We think she’s a Sheba/Collie x.. She’s about 5 years old.. super loving and affectionate…   She’s a pretty easy all around great dog but she can be a bit dominant with small zippy dogs.. so needs someone firm to correct her… She needs a home with no cats and probably would do best as an only pet as she bonds super fast to get humans.. She may have a bit of anxiety being left for long periods as she’s never been alone so that may be something she may need help with

Here is more info from her foster home

Suki is a very sweet & affectionate 30 lbs 5-6 yo girl.  She loves her people, and prefers to be the only dog in the house since she can be attention possessive.  She gets along with all dogs of all sizes and genders, but needs to be watched around small zippy dogs because she likes to chase them and nip at them.  She is learning quickly to “leave it” when she does think it might be fun to chase.  She does very well in strange situations like riding in a car, going to the groomer, vet, new homes, with strangers, and busy areas with traffic, people and noises.  She hasn’t shown any toy or food possession.  While she was very respectful when meeting a few babies and toddlers, we think she would do best in a house without small children, for now, since she has attention-jealousy.

She has good energy, being happy to go hiking for as long as her person wants, but she is a very relaxed chill-gal who likes to relax at home, too.  Suki is an excellent walker on leash, not pulling and consistently “checking in”.  She isn’t reactive to seeing other dogs out walking.  She hasn’t been an attention barker, or destructive in the house.

She is in excellent health and doesn’t have any food sensitivity, though she is sometimes picky about eating.

Overall, Suki will make an excellent companion for an individual, or family, who is able to give her the attention she craves with the activity level she likes.

Broken Promises Rescue is a volunteer run, not-for-profit, animal rescue organization located in the lower Vancouver Island. We are a group of long time rescuers that have come together to focus on improving the lives of unwanted, neglected and orphaned animals on Vancouver Island (as well as remote communities and other areas of B.C. if our resources allow us to.) Currently we are seeing many pets overlooked in the shelter system because they have less than desirable qualities. They may have medical or behavioral issues or they may simply be the wrong color, age or breed. At Broken Promise Rescue we believe all animals deserve to experience a life without pain, loneliness or hunger and want them to know what it feels like to be loved and cherished, despite appearance, age or medical condition. We are also dedicated to public education and raising awareness to help end the ongoing abuse, neglect and suffering. Educating children and adults about the responsibilities of animal ownership will go a long way in influencing public opinion on proper animal care, and help mold a more compassionate future. No animal should suffer at the hands of ignorance.
