Biscuit & Bacardi – Special Needs

These 2 sweet loving and affectionate kittens were born approx Early August 2019 –

They are loving and sweet and typical outgoing and playful kittens !   Sadly they have been tested for Feluk (Feline Leukemia) and came back a “weak” positive.  We re-ran their bloods at the lab as well retested a few times with the same results.    The lab work shows that they have been “exposed” to the virus but otherwise healthy and fine.   What does this mean ?  It means they could live a long and normal life and never get sick !  But we aren’t 100% sure … it could also mean down the road they may become sick.   Sadly there is no way to know if they will just be carriers or will actually get sick from the virus.    Feluk is very contagious (to cats only) so they need to go to a home with no other cats – be 100% inside only and need to be kept super healthy (as do all cats)

They need a home where someone will love them and enjoy them for what ever time they have !   They deserve to have a good life and enjoy the love and care just like any other kitty !    They are typical kittens now, playing and wrestling and cuddling and getting into mischief !     We hope someone out there will be open to having them, loving them and enjoying them for what ever time they have.    Like we said some cats who carry the virus never get sick so they could possibly have a long life !

Broken Promises Rescue is a volunteer run, not-for-profit, animal rescue organization located in the lower Vancouver Island. We are a group of long time rescuers that have come together to focus on improving the lives of unwanted, neglected and orphaned animals on Vancouver Island (as well as remote communities and other areas of B.C. if our resources allow us to.) Currently we are seeing many pets overlooked in the shelter system because they have less than desirable qualities. They may have medical or behavioral issues or they may simply be the wrong color, age or breed. At Broken Promise Rescue we believe all animals deserve to experience a life without pain, loneliness or hunger and want them to know what it feels like to be loved and cherished, despite appearance, age or medical condition. We are also dedicated to public education and raising awareness to help end the ongoing abuse, neglect and suffering. Educating children and adults about the responsibilities of animal ownership will go a long way in influencing public opinion on proper animal care, and help mold a more compassionate future. No animal should suffer at the hands of ignorance.
