August, Mabel and Juniper

Disclaimer: These kittens were born Feral. Never touched by humans before we got them. So they need a home where someone is ok with shy/scared cats and they may always be this way. They may get better with time as they have already come along way but we need a home with someone who has had or worked with or is ok with cats who may never be a typical cat that you can walk up to and pet or pick up.

These 3 sweet baby boys were trapped in the fall of 2021 off property with a bunch of stray/feral cats. They were about 3-4 months when they came to us so were very scared of humans as probably didn’t have much interaction with them. They are about 8 months old now approx. (as of Feb 2022) and getting to trust humans and realize that we are pretty cool ! They all sleep in bed with the foster mom and starting to enjoying a nice cuddle ! They are all still learning to trust but getting better every day ! So they need a quiet patient home who is willing to open up their heart and home to a cat or 2 and enjoy the process and impact of earning the trust of some gorgeous babies! They would do best in a home with no kids, or dogs and hopefully all go together or in pairs (adoption fee adjusted if you adopt more than 1 of these guys) It is super rewarding when you can see the trust and love come from them if given some time ! Because they are nervous and will hide around new people, they are not able to be met in advance and will need to be in a foster-to-adopt situation.

August was a very nervous feral who had been living outdoors when he was rescued by Broken Promises. Although he is still very nervous with sudden movements and new people, in time, he warms up. He is now very cuddly, loves to play and insists on sleeping under the covers. He is very food motivated and is such a sweet boy. He is great with other cats, but has never been around dogs or children.

Juniper – adoption pending

Juniper was also a very nervous feral who was rescued with his brother August. He is very curious, playful, and has learned to love cuddling and sleeping in the bed each night. Although he is still very nervous with new people and sudden movements, he warms up in time and has become very affectionate and curious. He is great with other cats, but has never been around dogs or children.

Mabel was rescued with his brothers as a feral kitten and is still quite shy. Sudden movements are still scary for him and he is still nervous about cuddling. However, he has come a long way and now loves to play and even cuddle and sleep on the bed. I know he will continue to open up and trust in his new home. He is also great with other cats, but has never been around dogs or children.

Broken Promises Rescue is a volunteer run, not-for-profit, animal rescue organization located in the lower Vancouver Island. We are a group of long time rescuers that have come together to focus on improving the lives of unwanted, neglected and orphaned animals on Vancouver Island (as well as remote communities and other areas of B.C. if our resources allow us to.) Currently we are seeing many pets overlooked in the shelter system because they have less than desirable qualities. They may have medical or behavioral issues or they may simply be the wrong color, age or breed. At Broken Promise Rescue we believe all animals deserve to experience a life without pain, loneliness or hunger and want them to know what it feels like to be loved and cherished, despite appearance, age or medical condition. We are also dedicated to public education and raising awareness to help end the ongoing abuse, neglect and suffering. Educating children and adults about the responsibilities of animal ownership will go a long way in influencing public opinion on proper animal care, and help mold a more compassionate future. No animal should suffer at the hands of ignorance.
