Meet Gus! Are you looking for a super affectionate “In Your Face” cuddly cat ? Gus is your guy !!!
A beautiful 2-year-old short hair tabby. He showed up on a farm as a stray but with devoted time and attention, has truly become the sweetest cat. Gus is FIV positive. Don’t let this scare you ! This just means that he has an immune system that is weakened, but with proper care, he can live a long, happy and healthy life. He just needs to get good food and be kept healthy .. but that is no different than any other cat ! He doesn’t require any special medications, just a good, high quality diet and a peaceful and loving environment. He is a very affectionate cat who is always purring, loves to cuddle and play with toys. Anyone who meets him falls in love. He is neutered, litter box and house trained and the vet declared him a very healthy cat. Gus has already been through so much in his short life and would thrive in a home that is willing to be patient and gentle, especially in the beginning. He would make a great companion for someone who is willing to give him the extra care, love and attention he needs.
FIV is a virus that is spread through deep bite wounds and is not transmissible to humans. With proper care and a healthy diet, FIV cats can live long and happy lives.
Just as HIV affects only people, FIV is contractible by cats alone. Being FIV-positive means that the cat has antibodies that have been exposed to the virus, it does not mean the cat will develop any FIV infection and clinical signs referred as Feline AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome of Cats). If a cat has FIV, it does not necessarily have Feline AIDS.
