Monty

Monty is an 8 month old boxer pug mix looking for a new home. He is about 45-50lbs, fully vetted (neutered, microchipped, vaccinated) and in good health. Monty is great with people and LOVES other dogs. He meets dogs successfully on and off leash and has no issues with aggression – he just wants to play! Monty can sit (and often sits on walks when he feels like a treat!) and is working on his other commands and leash skills – he’s very food motivated! He also loves to play fetch with a tennis ball. At home he wants to be near his people but is also content to sit in his crate and chew a bone or Kong for a few hours. He sleeps through the night in the crate without any issues. He is house trained with the odd puppy accident. Monty is a high to moderate energy dog who needs lots of walks and play time and ongoing training. Monty would do best in a home with another dog and no cats. We were told he was good with cats prior to adopting him however he shows an unhealthy interest in ours and likes to chase (also interested in birds and other small animals). He can be a little fearful of loud noises (big trucks and construction) but just needs a bit of encouragement and will keep on moving on walks (treats and pets!). Monty is a great little guy and would make a perfect addition to a home that can give lots of time and attention, and ideally a dog friend. If interested in adopting Monty we will provide you with the remainder of his food, dog bed, collar and leash, and toys.

Monty is not our dog and we have not met him, this is a courtesy post we are just assisting with finding him a home. If interested please fill out an application form.

Broken Promises Rescue is a volunteer run, not-for-profit, animal rescue organization located in the lower Vancouver Island. We are a group of long time rescuers that have come together to focus on improving the lives of unwanted, neglected and orphaned animals on Vancouver Island (as well as remote communities and other areas of B.C. if our resources allow us to.) Currently we are seeing many pets overlooked in the shelter system because they have less than desirable qualities. They may have medical or behavioral issues or they may simply be the wrong color, age or breed. At Broken Promise Rescue we believe all animals deserve to experience a life without pain, loneliness or hunger and want them to know what it feels like to be loved and cherished, despite appearance, age or medical condition. We are also dedicated to public education and raising awareness to help end the ongoing abuse, neglect and suffering. Educating children and adults about the responsibilities of animal ownership will go a long way in influencing public opinion on proper animal care, and help mold a more compassionate future. No animal should suffer at the hands of ignorance.
