Diesel

This is not our dog we are just posting to help find him a home.

Diesel is a 2 year old Catahoula Houndx
I got him as a puppy and he has been the easiest/sweetest dog to train and have in my care.
He is goofy, energetic, wicked smart, and well mannered.
Unfortunately with my change in housing situation, some upcoming vet care needs that financially I can not afford, as well as my working hours I cannot give him the time or life he deserves.
Diesel was born with a large overbite and has ongoing environmental allergies.
While his allergies are kept under control with regular baths, brushing, and medication it is something that needs constant attention.
I have spent a lot of time and money making sure he will live comfortably with both these but they need to be assessed frequently and for the remainder of his life.
I will be moving away for school in September so while I’m in no rush to find him a good home, finding one before then would be ideal.
Diesel is not a first time dog owner as he has vet care needs and is a more reserved dog around strangers. While he is not aggressive he is reactive if strangers enter too close to his space. He does well if left alone and allowed to make his own decisions with the people he meets as long as they respect his space.
Once he knows his people he will never forget them.
Diesel is fully housetrained/housebroken and knows many commands.
He is great around most dogs, always great with females.
He is neutered and will be up to date with shots, flea, tick, and deworming.

Broken Promises Rescue is a volunteer run, not-for-profit, animal rescue organization located in the lower Vancouver Island. We are a group of long time rescuers that have come together to focus on improving the lives of unwanted, neglected and orphaned animals on Vancouver Island (as well as remote communities and other areas of B.C. if our resources allow us to.) Currently we are seeing many pets overlooked in the shelter system because they have less than desirable qualities. They may have medical or behavioral issues or they may simply be the wrong color, age or breed. At Broken Promise Rescue we believe all animals deserve to experience a life without pain, loneliness or hunger and want them to know what it feels like to be loved and cherished, despite appearance, age or medical condition. We are also dedicated to public education and raising awareness to help end the ongoing abuse, neglect and suffering. Educating children and adults about the responsibilities of animal ownership will go a long way in influencing public opinion on proper animal care, and help mold a more compassionate future. No animal should suffer at the hands of ignorance.
