Hogan

Update on Hogan:

Hello! My name is Hogan. I love to spend my time sleeping, preferably close to my person, but I love to play with my toy mouse and laser pointer too! I am a bit shy to start, but Once I trust you and know you have a hand free you can expect some very firm headbutting to let you know that I am ready for some pets and scritches.

My foster mom says:

Hogan is an absolute snuggle boy. He loves to sleep beside me at night, and in my lap during the day. He really enjoys chasing the laser, and is smart enough to know to look for it on the floor when I bring it out.

Hogan has irritable bowel disease, but this is well managed with a daily pill that I hide in his wet food. He has excellent litter box manners, and prefers to have two boxes to do his business in.  He is now on 1 pill every 2nd day and doing amazing !!

This sweet senior boy has been a fantastic companion for me, and I look forward to seeing him continue to blossom in his new home.

This boy was adopted out by us as a kitten in 2012. He showed up as a stray at the end of 2021. He was microchipped but owner couldn’t be found. Thankfully they checked with the microchip company and found out that it was originally done by us as we got the call. We sprung him from the shelter.

He came to us pretty beat up and all his nails ripped out.. not sure if he got trapped somewhere and was trying to get out. He’s all healed now but we also found he has IBD.. but we found a few foods that he does the best on and is doing great ! He gets a probiotic every day as well. The food he does best on is all Chicken! He gets mostly wet food but a tiny bit of kibble as well.

He’s shy to start but once he feels safe he loves to sleep with his person and cuddle on the couch.

He would do well with a quiet home with one person or a quiet couple. And he needs someone who will continue with his probiotics and food.

Broken Promises Rescue is a volunteer run, not-for-profit, animal rescue organization located in the lower Vancouver Island. We are a group of long time rescuers that have come together to focus on improving the lives of unwanted, neglected and orphaned animals on Vancouver Island (as well as remote communities and other areas of B.C. if our resources allow us to.) Currently we are seeing many pets overlooked in the shelter system because they have less than desirable qualities. They may have medical or behavioral issues or they may simply be the wrong color, age or breed. At Broken Promise Rescue we believe all animals deserve to experience a life without pain, loneliness or hunger and want them to know what it feels like to be loved and cherished, despite appearance, age or medical condition. We are also dedicated to public education and raising awareness to help end the ongoing abuse, neglect and suffering. Educating children and adults about the responsibilities of animal ownership will go a long way in influencing public opinion on proper animal care, and help mold a more compassionate future. No animal should suffer at the hands of ignorance.
