Loki aka Sampson is a beautiful Flame Point Siamese Cat. He has the most amazing blue eyes. He loves to cuddle and will purr instantly as soon as you enter the room. Ear and chin scratches are his favorite! He was found as a stray and immediately taken to the vet. He had an ear polyp that had to be removed and testing revealed that his is FIV positive. He also had an upper respiratory infection, but he has completed treatment for it and is now symptom free.  He has a little bit of a balance issue when jumping down from heights. He tilts his head to the side too, probably as a result of the ear polyp  but it just adds to his charm !  He also has some hearing loss. He’s not deaf, but you need to be a little loud for him to hear you.   He absolutely needs to be a inside only kitty due to his FIV  ..  He is pretty obsessed with trying to get outside so window screens will be needed, but he loves to sit in the window. He currently is being fostered with 2 small dogs that he doesn’t mind, but we’re just introducing him to the other FIV cat in the home so not sure yet on cats !

FIV is like Human HIV ..  it is the same in cats .. they can live a long and normal life like any other cat they just need to be inside only and kept healthy !  but that is the same for any cat really ..  FIV is only transferred from cat to cat and ONLY through massive bite into the blood stream ..

Broken Promises Rescue is a volunteer run, not-for-profit, animal rescue organization located in the lower Vancouver Island. We are a group of long time rescuers that have come together to focus on improving the lives of unwanted, neglected and orphaned animals on Vancouver Island (as well as remote communities and other areas of B.C. if our resources allow us to.) Currently we are seeing many pets overlooked in the shelter system because they have less than desirable qualities. They may have medical or behavioral issues or they may simply be the wrong color, age or breed. At Broken Promise Rescue we believe all animals deserve to experience a life without pain, loneliness or hunger and want them to know what it feels like to be loved and cherished, despite appearance, age or medical condition. We are also dedicated to public education and raising awareness to help end the ongoing abuse, neglect and suffering. Educating children and adults about the responsibilities of animal ownership will go a long way in influencing public opinion on proper animal care, and help mold a more compassionate future. No animal should suffer at the hands of ignorance.
