Daisy – Courtesy Post

Meet Daisy,
A 6yr old Coonhound Mix, fully vaccinate, spayed living in sooke BC (she has been with us for almost 3yrs) Previous to living with us she spent over 2 years in a shelter during her formative puppy years with no proper socialization or training
With a very sad and heavy heart we need to find her a new home.
She needs a home with no other dogs or animals because of resource guarding. Unfortunately this has led to a few bites to humans, 1 which required stitches. As well as fights between her and our other dogs and she had to get stitches
A home with no young children (ideally not under the age of 14)
A home with no seniors aa she can be a bit much to handle for someone with limited or restricted mobility
Reasons we are needing to rehome
– her resource guarding (we have 2 other dogs, 2 younger children and 2 seniors in our home) this has created a very difficult home for daisy and we feel she deserves to very a solo dog and the center of her person(s)/family life
When she is on her own she is the most playful, loving, sweet dog. She is very smart and a quick learner
She is currently in Fluoxitine and may need to stay on this permanently
She has also been working with a behavioralist and continued training is highly recommended
A home that is hound savvy is a MUST as she is not a first hound dog
A fully fenced yard due to high prey drive which is very common in hounds
And be prepared for some barooing from her beautiful singing voice
Please help us find Daisy her forever home

** Daisy is a courtesy post so not our dog nor have we met her. We are just posting for the family. If interested please fill out one of our applications forms and we will forward to them.

Broken Promises Rescue is a volunteer run, not-for-profit, animal rescue organization located in the lower Vancouver Island. We are a group of long time rescuers that have come together to focus on improving the lives of unwanted, neglected and orphaned animals on Vancouver Island (as well as remote communities and other areas of B.C. if our resources allow us to.) Currently we are seeing many pets overlooked in the shelter system because they have less than desirable qualities. They may have medical or behavioral issues or they may simply be the wrong color, age or breed. At Broken Promise Rescue we believe all animals deserve to experience a life without pain, loneliness or hunger and want them to know what it feels like to be loved and cherished, despite appearance, age or medical condition. We are also dedicated to public education and raising awareness to help end the ongoing abuse, neglect and suffering. Educating children and adults about the responsibilities of animal ownership will go a long way in influencing public opinion on proper animal care, and help mold a more compassionate future. No animal should suffer at the hands of ignorance.
