Lewis is a three year old 60 pound Labradoodle who has lived with us for two years. He has a lovely temperament with his people, but can be reactive towards other animals, some children, and has a high prey drive. He is happiest and calmest with plenty of exercise, but is crate trained, travels well in a car, and does well relaxing on his own while we’re at work. Lewis does very well with basic commands and some tricks, with the exception of his recall; he currently lives in a rural area and is prone to running after deer, rabbits, and bears when off leash. Despite being a poodle mix Lewis does shed from his trunk, but is very tolerant of bathing and grooming, including nail trims. He only drools for peanut butter, and doesn’t lick his humans. He’s a pleasantly social dog in groups of adults, and is always keen for a cuddle.

We are Lewis’ second home. He was with his previous owner for a year, and was already neutered before coming to us. We worked with a trainer who suggested putting Lewis on fluoxetine to help him calm down a bit and streamline his learning. This proved to be somewhat effective, but he was eventually weaned off as his anxiety decreased and he became more comfortable in his environment. We think he would do best in a home with either a large fenced yard, or another stable dog to learn from and play with.

** please note Lewis is not our dog and we have never met him. WE are only posting to help the family find a new home. if interested please fill out an application form and we will forward to the family.
