Tito or Cheeto as we like to call him 🙂, came to us in the middle of December and what a loving dog this little guy is! He absolutely loves cuddles and would love to sit on the couch with you while you watch tv or read as much as you like. On the flip side, he is perfectly content to lay in a comfy dog bed by your feet. He has a little trouble getting up onto the couch without a running jump so if you are happy to bring him up, he would be perfectly fine with that!

Tito absolutely LOVES walks. If we are putting on our coats to go out, he is right there waiting and jumping up and down. He is a bit of a puller on leash and although he is not a big dog (maybe 15lbs or so) a good hold on his leash is essential as he does not have the street smarts to stay off the road if he gets away on you.

Tito can be super reactive on leash with other dogs that he sees so a firm hold is again essential here. He has no problem with people passing (if they are not with a dog) but any sized dog makes him go into defense mode. We generally cross the road if we see someone approaching with a pup to make the interaction less upsetting to both dogs. We have also noticed that he sometimes startles at loud sounds and if it is a person making that sound, can act aggressively toward them. As an example, cheering loudly for a sporting event on TV caused him to react by snapping and barking at my husband. For this reason, a quiet, laid-back household would be best for Tito. His previous owner said that he is not good with small children and would be better suited to live with a couple or single person. Older, non- rambunctious teens would probably be okay.

Tito currently lives with our 7 year old chihuahua and there have been no problems with them getting along. He is playful and will often try to engage our girl in play but so far, she isn’t interested. We feel he would do well in a home with or without another small dog.

A fenced yard is a must for Tito as he is extremely curious and if he even finds an opening in the fence that he can fit through, he will try to take it. We have been toileting him in our backyard on a long line for this reason. He just wants to get out and explore the world. We have taken him on several forested walks and he is good with a longer hike on the weekend or shorter walks during the week. As long as he is let outside on a regular basis for bathroom breaks, he should be okay not peeing in the house. He had a few mistakes when he first got here but now that we have a bit of a routine, that is no longer happening.

Tito is a great sleeper at night. He sleeps in a crate in our bedroom at the foot of the bed. Since he came to us, he has gone willingly into the crate with no whining or barking. He settles right away and seems to know when it is time for us all to sleep.

All in all, Tito is a super friendly guy who just wants a person to love and care for him.
