This handsome 8-year-old teacup Chihuahua is looking for a very specific, experienced person to call his own. Once Chewy bonds with you, he bonds intensely. He will be your ultimate loyal shadow and most affectionate companion.

🌟 The Best Stuff

When Chewy loves you, he loves you with his whole soul. He is a world-class cuddler who wants nothing more than to dive into a warm pile of laundry fresh from the dryer or burrow deep under the blankets with you at night. Despite his tiny stature, he has a wonderful zest for life! He absolutely loves going for walks and running around.

Bonus points: Chewy is already trained on pee pads and is pretty darn good about doing his business outside, too!

🏡 What Chewy Needs in a Home

Chewy is a true Chihuahua through and through, which means barking is his version of talking. Because he is very vocal and takes his job as house watchman seriously, he needs to live in a detached house. He will bark at people passing by the window or noises outside, so condo or townhome living is not a good fit for him.

He also requires a cat-free home and a calm environment. Chewy has a strong preference for women and generally does not like men.

He is pretty goood with house training but he will still pee and poop on pee pads in the home.

🐕 Leash Manners & Social Boundaries

While Chewy loves his walks, the big wide world can overwhelm him. If he sees another person or dog while on leash, his big emotions take over and he will bark, lunge, and snarl. Because of this protective streak and fear of strangers, Chewy is a “look, but don’t touch” kind of dog. If an unfamiliar person tries to pet him, he may bite. He needs a savvy handler who can confidently advocate for his space and keep him moving. He is still learning to go for walks as well. We think he was never taken for walks so he will only go a few blocks but hopefully that will get better!

💊 Health Profile

Chewy has a collapsed trachea (which is common for his breed and likely genetic) and is also on a daily medication to boost his liver function. With proper management, the right treatment, and a stress-free environment, Chewy can continue to live a long, happy life! His Meds for his Liver are $42 a month. We currently have him on Calming meds also as he is a pretty anxious and highly stressed boy. We are also working with a trainer at this time so hopefully we can over come this and he won’t need those meds for life but it is difficult to say. They are $65 a month
