Slim Shady : ** Please read below for Slim’s medical stuff !! His siblings are all adopted (Eminem and 50 Cent) …. but he is in a foster with lots of cats and loves to play and snuggle ! He is sweet, affectionate and will paw at your legs for you to pick him up. He is very sweeet and gentle He also LOVES the water and will jump in with you when you have a shower! He needs a home with another playful young cat. He is a bit skittish and jumpy so would do best in a quiet home with only 1 or 2 adults and no kids or dogs .. but he will lay flat on his back on you for a nap with all fours in the air! he’s a real sweetie!
Medical stuff for Slim:
He came to us at 8 weeks of age and recently we noticed he has a bit of a weird swing out with his right back leg when he walks. So just to be proactive, we did X-rays to see what is going to and it was found that he must have had a injury when he was a baby before he came to us. He has damage to his distal femur and the ligaments within the knee. We reached out to a specialized surgeon (Dr. Sukhiani) and he did not recommend surgery as an option as he feels it would likely create more of an issue. He recommends monitoring him and watch how much he uses his leg and if he “limps”, favors” it and if their appears to be pain. So far he is running around like crazy, no limping and does not appear to be in pain. It may become a problem later in life or cause arthritis but we have no way to know for sure. If it becomes a problem as he ages and won’t use it and is in pain amputation may be the only option. So this is something that who ever adopts him needs to know and be aware of. We need an adopter who will ensure that he isn’t in pain and if his leg needs to come off they are prepared for that. The costs can range anywhere from $3K and Up.
